Emily comes to Friends of Front Street after ten years working in the field of animal welfare. She began her career at Animal Care Sanctuary, a nonprofit shelter near her hometown in Pennsylvania, where she held multiple positions within the organization and gained experience in shelter operations & management, veterinary care, and donor relations. She joined the ASU/VT Maddie’s Fund Nationwide Fostering Study in 2019, where she consulted with animal shelter staff nationwide on program development and implementation, with a focus on identifying barriers to success, trialing solutions, and streamlining processes. Emily has co-authored several scientific publications on fostering practices in animal shelters.
Her work launching crisis fostering programs at shelters across the country during the COVID-19 pandemic deepened her interest in supporting pet owners experiencing crisis, a passion that closely aligns with the Friends of Front Street mission. A Front Street volunteer and foster since 2020, she is excited to serve the community and its pets in this role. Emily lives outside Sacramento with her partner Ben and their dogs, Henry and Charlize, cats Cole and Simon, and four chickens.
