Dennis joined the Friends board in 2021. Over the last 30 years he and his wife, Debbie Davis, have rescued more than 30 dogs, primarily the older ones, and given them a place to live out the rest of their lives. He is a strong advocate for animal rights and has worked with many organizations to support that cause. Along with Friends, he has served on numerous nonprofit boards in the Sacramento area.
